I am an unabashed Green Bay Packers fan. I hate Brett Favre immensely. This heap of gun slinger is going to get decapitated by AJ Hawk this year. I will cheer when they put him in a neck brace.
While I can't say that I share your contemptuous desire for the death of Brett Favre, I will say that this is yet another step down a miserable path that this once legendary man has been travelling for the last 3 years. Brett Favre is the epitome of an aging great who can't get over his own ego and just let go. Over the past 3 years, Brett has singlehandedly taken his assured spot in eternal football lore, and perverted it by creating a legacy of self righteous antics.
I just don't understand why the man refuses to walk away with his legend, mostly, still in tact. Brett Favre, the Iron Man of professional football, the penultimate Green Bay Packer (with the exception of one forgiveable blip on the J-E-T-S radar screen), has now put himself in a position to end his career either by injury or potentially being benched by what should be his most bitter of rivals. How could it end like this? Some say it's because of his undying love of the game, he just is not capable of leaving when he still feels he is on top of his game (despite what his play over the last 3rd of last season, and a wonky biceps tendon might suggest). I say it's just the final self-serving act of a man who's fallen too much in love with his own legend.
